Green Skills for Life

Teachers' Resources

Raising awareness of green competences is essential for preparing vocational students for a sustainable future. By equipping VET teachers with innovative digital tools, we aim to make it easier to integrate the teaching of these crucial skills into their classes. That’s why we created this platform—a hub of resources designed to help educators inspire their students to develop the green competences needed for their careers and beyond.

What We Offer

Our platform offers VET teachers an extensive library of 200 engaging digital microlessons focused on sustainability. The microlessons have been broken down into 4 areas: Embodying Sustainability Values, Envisioning Sustainable Futures, Embracing Complexity in Sustainability, and Acting for Sustainability. Each area is further divided into specific competences (for example, Valuing Sustainability or Supporting Fairness). This ensures a thorough exploration of sustainability from multiple angles. With a variety of formats—including videos, infographics, and gamified lessons—our microlessons cater to diverse learning styles, making it easier than ever to bring sustainability into your classroom. Microlessons are available for download as editable Canva templates, allowing you to translate or adapt the content to suit your classroom needs.

In addition, we have provided lesson plans, a teachers’ guide for implementing green competences in the classroom and a microcertification system for green competence assessment.

Teachers' Guide

This comprehensive Teachers’ Guide supports VET educators in integrating green competences into their teaching. It introduces key sustainability frameworks like the European GreenComp, explores microlearning and microcertification, and offers practical strategies, microlesson examples, and case studies to help embed green skills across vocational curricula.

Microcertification Scheme

The Green Skills for Life Microcertification System for Green Competence Assessment offers a structured and innovative way to recognise learners’ sustainability competencies. Based on the European GreenComp framework and aligned with Open Badges 2.0 standards, the system enables students to earn digital badges as they progress through modular learning activities. This approach ensures achievements are meaningful and verifiable – supporting young people in building green skills for a more sustainable future. This document provides a comprehensive overview of the microcertification process, including the structure, standards, and metadata requirements for badges.
